Our VCE Technology students and staff went to the Top Design exhibition last week. 20 VCE students who are doing Food Technology, Product and Design or Visual Communications along with their teachers, Mrs Anne Sudholz, Mr Shane Williams and Mrs Leanne Jenion travelled to Melbourne to visit the Melbourne Museum which was hosting the Top Design exhibition. This exhibition was a showcase of the top 10% of folios from the 2016 VCE students in these technology subjects. It was a long day but a worthwhile one for all concerned.
Last week 21 VCE outdoor education students attended their first trip of the year. Mr Shannon Argall organised the trip as part of their assessment and took the students to the Otway Ranges. He was supported by Mrs Jo Baker. I have been given feedback that the trip was a huge success.
Our year 12 VCE students will attend the annual VCE study day in Horsham this Friday. These sessions are important in that they give the students direction and good solid advice on how to approach their study during this very demanding year. Good Luck to all students and teachers that attend this very important study day.
All year 12’s and their parents are invited to the Information Night this week. The information night will be on Thursday February 16th at 7pm in Room 3. This is an important night to set the scene for the year ahead and to receive a variety of information about dates and events for the year.
Our year 12 students have finished sitting their VCE exams. The feedback I have gained from speaking to the students who have completed exams is a sense of relief and one of being nervous as they now wait for the results to come out on Monday December 12. The college community congratulates them on a job well done and like them we wait for the results to come out.
Wednesday October 26 saw the start of the VCE exams. Our year 12 students are in the process of completing their final exams. The student’s final exam will be this Friday and then we wait for the exams to be corrected by examiners. The students have been happy with their efforts and generally feel good about their chances of good unit scores. We wish all involved in the process from now the best of luck.
The School Captain selection process is underway for current Yr 11 students to take on leadership roles in 2017. This is a great opportunity for students to learn leadership skills and contribute to the school. It also gives a substantial boost to any resume! Nomination & application forms will be handed out on Friday 14th October. Students requiring a further form will need to see Mrs Randall or Mr Vague.
Application must be submitted to Mrs Randall by Thursday 20th October.
The parent information session that was held last Wednesday, August 10 to outline the year 11 educational options available to students in 2017 was well supported. 80% of our year 10 cohort attended with at least one family member.
The session provided information about VCE, VET, VCAL, SBA and other options available to students intending to continue their education into year 11 and 12. The evening introduced parents to the appropriate staff who will be able to provide assistance and direction throughout their child’s year 11 and 12 schooling.
I would like to thank Mr Andrew Vague for organising the evening and also thank the staff who attended and provided advice and support.
On Wednesday August 10 a parent information session will be held to outline the year 11 educational options available to students in 2017. In an ever changing educational environment it is very important that students continue their education as long as possible and that they be given the chance to follow a pathway that will assist their needs.
The information session will outline VCE, VET and VCAL options available and will introduce parents to the appropriate staff who will be able to provide assistance and direction throughout their child’s year 11 and 12 schooling. I encourage ALL parents of potential 2017 year 11 students to attend this very important information session.
